Every Friday Night

Every Friday night in January and February was filled with tension... excitement... GGRRing... laughter...tears...fouls... and... hugs.
It was Young Women's Basketball!! Our ward is quite large (I think we have 24 Beehives), and so the Basketball teams were split into 2. The slightly older, more experienced girls (in other words the girls who played on last years YW basketball team)and the I've seen a basketball, but not sure what to do with it, team. Kate was on the first team, and Afton (the Friday after she turned 12, with only 1 game left and then the stake tournament), was on the second team.

The girls got the chance to play against each other. It was fun to watch, they both did a great job!!
Kate's team clobbered every single team in our stake, and I do mean clobbbered them. Afton's team got better at each game.

Kate's team always played with real heart, and were also very aggressive.
They won the stake tournament!!! Afton's team came in 3rd, which I thought was pretty good.

The older girls then went on to the Regional Tournament, they played round robbin games on Thursday night, where they played just 5 minute halves, and had a 2 minute half time. They played for points, to be seeded for the tournament. You should have seen those girls play!! They really do play with heart, and BODIES!! They really wanted to win.
Friday night (sad to say, but I missed, because I went to Scrap Camp), but got text updates, when I had cell coverage), the girls won their two games, and then came Saturday morning. "The refs were against them", was all I heard, and they ended up losing the game, and got 3rd place in Regions! I thought they did great. Oldest member on their team is 14, and they sure played against a lot of Laurels. But WAY TO GO GIRLS!!! Glad I got watch you... every Friday night!! Can't wait for next year!!

Guess who's 12!?! (A month and a half ago!!)

Hey looky here!! I'm bloggin' again... and I'm cleanin' out my fridge, haven't done that either for a while... maybe everytime I clean out my fridge, I should blog... hmm... probabably not... Anyways, since it has been awhile, I thought I'd try to catch up.

My Afton is 12!! I can hardly believe it! She's been waiting for this day for awhile, since now she's officially out of Primary, and can go to Young Woman's, not go to Activity Days, and best of all NOT sing in the Primary Program!! Another plus is she can now go to Bishop Youth Chat, and sing in Stake YW Standards Night!! (Oh, and play basketball with the YW).

Anyways for her birthday she was super excited, because she finally got the moon chair that she has been wanting since WAY before Christmas, and didn't get. Now don't be feeling sorry for her, she did get a DS, that she has been wanting since the Christmas before that! (Aren't my kids spoiled?)
Also for her birthday we went in to Salt Lake, and the Gateway to go shopping, and to meet up with Nana for dinner at Applebees. Nana had been spending sometime with us, because of her meetings in SLC, and we had really enjoyed her, but that particular night she got a hotel room, so we decided it would be fun to join her, and Daniel too. He rode the bus in, and then Trax over to the Gateway. We had a good time shopping, and even saw the Jazz bear, but I couldn't find those pictures!

For Afton's Birthday party, we took her 2 bestest friends to see "The Lightning Thief, Percy Jackson and the Olympians). We did this on Monday (President's Day), and after had a bbq. Everyone but Joss and I had read this book, and we were all surprised with the way the movie was, but we still had a good time!

Still can't believe my girl is 12, and I am so proud of her! How hard she works in school, and on the piano. Her determination always astounds me!! Guess who loves you, girl!!! (For way longer than a month and a half!!) FOREVER!!!
