And...they're back

It's finally back to school! August 20,2013
Kate is a Senior this year, and she is the Senior Class Historian, Copy Editor of the Yearbook, National Honor Society Vice President, Show Choir Pianist, and new Domino's Employee! We hope we survive!
Afton is a Sophomore, still trying to recover from her broken leg, she is going to be the Cross Country Manager, and is on the debate team. She will continue with Physical therapy twice a week, and of course has the piano to practice, and her driver's license to earn!
Last year they will all start school at the same time!
Kate and Afton now drive to school together in the morning!
Dylan is in 8th grade, and is at the Junior High. He is getting better and better at the piano, he is teaching himself the guitar, and can take you down with his karate skills! Now to get that Eagle done!
This is the last year at the Elementary School for our family! Jocelynn is in the 6th grade, she just started piano lessons in the summer, and is planning on playing the violin with the elementary orchestra soon (like I said earlier, the clarinet didn't work so well!) I can't believe all my babies are so big!
I wonder what this year will bring...craziness, stress, homework, hours of practicing, the piano that will never stop, projects, headaches, fun, memories, and more craziness...plus more!

The last day of school

Last day of being a Junior!
Last day of being a freshman!
Last day of school...I wonder what summer will bring? What memories will be made? Will we make the most of it??
May 24, 2103. The last day of school started off like any other year... Jocelynn and I went to lunch with some friends and then went to the park. Afton walked to Soelberg's with some friends, Kate was with some of her friends, and Dylan was getting ready to go on a Scout Camp Out... The afternoon was good. We all met back up, and we were making plans for the rest of the evening, Kate was going to go to dinner with her friends, and then come back to our house, and have a "homework burning party", Dylan was going to a Scout Camp out, Afton was already at her friend's house in Stansbury for a party, and Daniel, Jocelynn and I were making plans to go to dinner when we get a phone call, it was my cell phone...I missed it, it didn't ring, it does that sometimes. It was telling me I had a message...from Afton's friend, Elysa, weird, I thought, but then again, maybe Afton's phone had died, and she was trying to call... So, I pressed the voice mail message and started listening to the message, the home phone rang...it was the Morrison's cell... there had been an accident. Afton had jumped off the roof at the Steadman's house, on to the trampoline, something everyone had done...it was her first time. She was hurt. Her leg(s?) was broken... I told Daniel...Kate had already gone to dinner...we told them we'd meet them at the hospital...they had already called the ambulance...we called Kate and told her to come home...we told Dylan to find a ride to the church for his camp out...we drove to the hospital...it's only 2 minutes away...the ambulance wasn't coming...the hospital didn't know anything about it...we called back to the friend's phone..."Where are you?"..."we're taking her to Primary Children's on the Air Med Helicopter...she's broken her leg...how long will it take you to get here?"..."10 minutes...we're coming"..."We'll probably have to meet you there"...we divide up...Dan is to get the car, and some supplies, we'll meet at the hospital...I drive to Stansbury..."where are you?"..."I'm almost there"..."the helicopter hit a bird, she has to go by ambulance"...I'm almost there. I'm there...firetrucks...policeman...ambulances...people...Afton is in back of the ambulance...tethered to a board...they are ready to go..."say hi, then get in front"..."Afton, you'll be okay"...Afton starts to cry, she's been so brave..."Buckle up, we've got to go"... Bumpy roads...long drive...lights on...people moving out of the way...I can't see the speedometer, but we are going fast...Afton cries out on every bump...my poor baby...is she going to be okay??...the EMT's say yes... Finally at the hospital...put in a room...people check...this is an emergency...why aren't they doing anything?...they come in...they check on her again...Daniel makes it...I nearly pass out...my baby is hurt, she's wet...she's miserable! Help her!...why is she still hooked up to the board...x-ray machine comes in...nurses...they take her off of the board...and her hair...where is the doctor?..."she has to have surgery, she has a compound fracture of her left leg, both the tibia and fibula are broken... should be in an hour...an hour passes...nothing to take your mind of this horrible waiting game...oh, I found a book...let's read...it's about potty training? in an ER room...really?...Daniel finds another book, he starts to read...priesthood blessing..waiting...
waiting..."Now, surgery should be in an hour"...still waiting...finally...it's our turn.

It sure would be helpful to remember your password!

I don't know if you have the same problem, but I have too many passwords! Most similar...but enough different, so I can adhere to all of the rules...has to have a capital, has to have a number, a symbol would be nice, and if you could repeat the abc's backward while standing on your head...well that would be ideal! I did have a system...I wrote down my passwords, even put them some place extremely handy...my I-touch...smart, hugh? That is, until someone who shouldn't be playing with my things, accidentally deletes my notes with all of my passwords. Stinky things is, I don't even know who did it! I can't even give them some extra chores...or even one chore! Well, that's my story...by the way...I love my family! I really do! But teenagers are hard!! If I can remember the password I typed in today, I might blog again soon, and may even add pictures, but that would require the use of another computer, because someone...the one who shall not be named...broke the usb drives...oh what fun! I love my family...I love my famil...I love my fami...I love my fam...

Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to a great dad! We love him so much! He works so hard for us and we don't know what we'd do without him in our lives. He is loving and supportive, and always wants the best for everyone. He is amazing, and knows how to do about everything! He really does (especially with a little help from u-tube). The kids know he isn't nearly as bossy as the mom in this household, and that makes him even more wonderful. He didn't get nearly the presents he deserves, but we do love him ever so much.
Dylan was out of town, he was down in Cedar with Nana and the Stathis family. I guess how that's how life is going to go now, and I don't really like it. I like us to all be together all of the time (well, not all of the time, but most of the time)like I said, the mom in this household is kind of bossy!

Feeling Groovy!

June 15, 2013 Jocelynn and I went to the Activity Days Mother/Daughter Date...which was a fashion show and lunch, starring all of the girls and their moms.
Joce and I were assigned Disco's 70. We had a fun time putting together our costumes, and writing our script. It was kind of funny walking into the church, some of us were dressed as gypsies, mummies, cowgirls, and some were clowns, and it happened to be at a time, where others were dressed up for a baptism... we felt kind of silly, but then decided we just had to get our groove on. We had a good time. I think this might have been my last official mommy/daughter activity day date, because Jocelynn will be 12 soon. I'm glad it was such a groovy one! I love spending time with her. She's so fun...she knew just what she wanted to wear, and whose wig she wanted to borrow. I just love her.

Summer Flowers

I took some pictures of some of the flowers that are growing in my yard. These poppies don't last long, but they sure are beautiful when in bloom.
And pink flowers grow under our tree in the front yard, and I just love the way they look, and that I don't have to do anything to do them, except cut them back once in the summer, so they will re-bloom. Gotta love that!
And one last picture of the poppies, because they are just so pretty!

Dance Baby Dance!

For the dance festival this year Jocelynn was my only dancer...she did an 80's re-mix dance.
She did such a good job!
I love this tradition at Overlake!
