Look at those kids dance!

Wednesday, was the annual dance festival at the elementary school. Each year the teachers teach the kids a dance, and then we all meet out on the playground and watch em show us their stuff! This year the first grade danced to "Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf", Jocelynn did a great job showing us her attitude. Dylan, and the third grade danced to "Cotton Eye Joe", and Afton came down to defend us from aliens, and danced to "Men in Black" with the other 5th graders! I'm glad they have this fun tradition at our school. Kate was disappointed she couldn't watch, but in one of her classes she actually had work to do!

WHere Oh wHere cOuld We be?

"Where are we?", you may ask. And I would have you guess. Are we on the beach in Florida (we could be, you never know, our friends went on a surprise trip to Florida over Spring Break), or are we on the beach near Disney Land (no, that place was too windy! LOL), or are we on the beach in SanDiego (no, that one (hopefully) will happen in August!) Since you can't guess let me give you some clues. Sometimes it's stinky, it's ALwayS SalTy, and the deer and the antelope rome (well bison, and antelope, if they're actually real! (you'll have to ask Daniel about that one!) Do you give up yet? We are at Antelope Island State Park, and believe it or not we had a great time! So, next time you are in need of a salt fix, you just might have to go with us!

Happy Birthday Callie!

Happy Birthday to you, Miss jeanie beanie weenie!! I am glad that we are sisters! I can't believe you! You alway surprise me... I remember one of those first times I thought "you've got to be kidding me!" and that was when we were Main Street Cedar City, just finishing visiting Grandma Murray at that bookstore, and Kathryn and I wanted to keep wandering Main Street, and you wanted to go to Grandma's house, and so as we went north, and to our surprise and worry, you went south, not to return! I should've known then, but then later there was a basketball head, a toothpasted costume, moving to Cedar, moving to Vegas, and then moving to Michigan, and all by yourself... each time! You are amazing, strong, and definitely a force to be reckoned with!! I love you to death, and I'm glad you'll always be my sister, even if you do choose to go the opposite direction (although it would make my life easier, and more fun, if you were closer!)

The End of the school year

It's the end of the school year, and boy oh boy have these kids been busy with all of those end of the year assignments. Kate had a 10 page paper due in Language Arts, and being the over achiever she is, her paper was 18 pages. She's also been busy with soccer, and Young Womens. She also had a Spring Orchestra Concert, where again she was first chair. Afton has poems and science experiments due, and today she was turned into a wax dummy! The 5th grade put on a Wax Museum, they all had to dress up as a person from American history, and recite a two minute speech that they had to write. She was Sojourner Truth, the first black abolitionist woman. Afton has also been busy with a basketball clinic, which she is the only girl, but she's been a trooper, and she's learning a lot. Dylan, has been busy with scouts, karate, and he has a book report due Friday! And little Jocelynn was the cutest first little pig there ever was, in her class's version of "The Three Little Pigs". She did her part so very cute, and before that recited poems, and sang her little song about Hiccups!! Boy am I glad the end of the year is over!! At least I think I am! :-)

Time for an update?

Well, sweet sisters you keep telling me to update my blog... so there it's updated!!
Actually, Kate's basketball team, just about made it to regionals. They were only about 5 points shy, they came back from the losers bracket, kept winning games, and if they had about two more minutes in the quarter, I think they would have won, because they came from behind, got on fire, and then the buzzer rang! They did a great job, though and we were all very proud of them. They came in third for our stake. This experience helped Kate realize that she really enjoys basketball, so what could be better than that??

Afton and Dylan's team didn't do as well. But they still enjoyed playing Junior Jazz.

It's been so long, since I've posted last, that the seasons have changed, and so have the sports!
Soccer has started back up, and Tuesday afternoons, and Saturday afternoons, you can now find Kate on the soccer field. She really enjoys soccer! Although, she is a little intimidated by those boys! Soccer here is coed, which is a good and bad thing :-)

Dylan has just started Karate! A man in our ward teaches in his basement, and so we signed up Dylan, so far he seems to really enjoy it, and I think he can't wait to try out some of his moves on his sisters! He's only been going for two weeks, so I think he will get a chance to try out his moves in the future.

Dylan has also been going to a basketball fundamentals clinic, that the high school is putting on. Not only is he learning new stuff, but I am as well (by sitting on the sidelines and taking notes), that way I will be able to teach the girls, since the clinic was for boys only!

With her birthday money, Afton bought herself a ripstick! Boy, those things are scary! She's been practicing like crazy, and getting better at it all the time. Go Afton!

And little ol' Joss, well, low and behold that girl can read! I don't know why it's taken this long for me to figure it out, but it seems like all of a sudden, she's really caught on to the whole reading thing, and now she loves to read stories to me. I'm really proud of her, it seems like things take her awhile, but she's doing it, and that's what counts!

Dan the Man, has been working like a mad man in the basement, both of the girls' rooms are framed, and I think the next step is electrical, and duct work. That man has been holding out on me!! He can build things! I'm now thinking of all sorts of things that I need built... if only more home depot cards would come our way! I will post some pics later.

B-ball!

Did you know that we have 3 basketball players in our family right now? Not bad, hugh? KatieKat has been playing with the Young Women, we finally have an athletic director that does her job! I'm so grateful for that, because, although I wasn't that great at sports, it gave me an opportunity to try, and so my dear daughter gets a chance. She plays soccer, but really hasn't tried any other sports, so this has been great. And she's getting better each game! She steals the ball, does a lay up, and shoots and she... misses (sometimes) and scores(sometimes)! Her tournament starts on Thursday, so wish her luck!

AfteyLou has also been playing! This is her third year playing on a Junior Jazz team. She's also improving with each game, and keeps telling me that she wishes there was "Spring Basketball", her first tournament game is tomorrow. Man, is she excited!

DillPickles has also been playing Junior Jazz. His last game was Saturday, they lost 26-4. This did not make him very happy! He has become quite aggressive. He steals that ball like nothing else! But, he can't shoot worth a darn. I guess he now knows what he should be practicing, dude
.
Snickerdoodles, has been cheering them all on, with her bag of tricks. Which means she colors or somehow disappears during each of the games. What a big supporter!
Basketball season is almost over! We're going to miss it, but it also means that winter is almost over too, and we're not going to miss that as much.
